Dear Fleet 8 Members:

Those of you who came up for the Regatta last July know how wonderful Santa Barbara is on a summer weekend.  Unfortunately that's not a secret and some folks found out the hard way that you can't get lodging here if you wait to book it.  I am writing to implore you to book your rooms NOW, and to help you with this task we have both a special deal and info on alternatives.

SPECIAL DEAL:  The Franciscan Inn in West Beach is holding a block of rooms for us for Friday (7/28) and Saturday (7/29) at the following rates:

Room with King Bed - $155.00 per night + tax
Room with 2 doubles or 2 queens - $180.00 per night + tax
Standard Suite  - Queen bed in bedroom/Queen sofa in living room + kitchenette - $225.00 per night + tax

Not blocked but currently available:

- Franciscan Suite - Queen bed in the bedroom, 2 queen beds + a sofa bed in the main room (picture on website). This gives 4 beds in one unit for $295.00 per night
 - Family Suite - Queen bed in bedroom upstairs, Queen bed in bedroom downstairs, Queen sofa bed in lviing area w/kitchentte - $295.00 per night

Located at Bath and Mason the Franciscan Inn is an easy walk to the Santa Barbara Yacht Club. Their prices are very good for that time of year, the rooms are nice and the people who run it are great. They have a swimming pool and jacuzzi. Their web site is http://www.franciscaninn.com/

To reserve call the Franciscan Inn - 805-963-8845 and use Reservation Code SBYC.

They are holding the rooms until March 31st, BUT they are already 50% booked for that weekend so don't forget to reserve.

ALTERNATIVES:  Santa Barbara has many fine Hotels as well as Motels, B&Bs and rental Cottages.  Don't let the quantity fool you, they all book up.  While the Franciscan Inn will meet most people's needs, in case it's not what you are looking for we have attached a comprehensive list of options.  These are grouped geographically.  West Beach is closest to the Harbor and walkable (albeit longish) to most of Downtown.  East Beach is also pleasant and an easy drive to the Harbor.  Clicking on the name will take you to the Orbitz page for the hotel and where available a link to their direct web site is at the bottom of each listing.  Links to some Vacation Rentals and B&Bs are at the end of the document along with a map.  None! of this is meant to be an endorsement, we just want you to come and race and not be grumpy because you were sleeping on the floor.  If you have questions feel free to write me.

P.S. Congratulations to Zuni Bear and Grace O'Malley for their stunning performances at Key West.
